In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Remove from heat and add the black tea bags and fresh mint leaves.
Let it steep for 5 minutes.
Remove the tea bags and strain out the mint leaves. Stir in the sugar until dissolved.
Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then transfer it to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours.
Fill glasses with crushed ice.
Pour the chilled Mint Julep Iced Tea over the ice.
Garnish with fresh mint sprigs.
Notes
You can customize the sweetness by adjusting the amount of sugar or sweetener to your liking. Feel free to add a splash of bourbon for a boozy twist, if desired.
