- 2 cups Water
- 1 Black tea bags, or 1-2 teaspoons of loose leaf black tea like Assam, Ceylon, or Darjeeling
- 3 whole green cardamom pods lightly crushed
- honey or sugar to taste optional
- A splash of milk or a milk alternative optional
Bring the 2 cups of water to a rolling boil in a pot or saucepan.
Lightly crush the cardamom pods with the back of a spoon or a mortar and pestle to release their flavor. You don't need to grind them completely, just enough to open the pods.
Add the crushed cardamom pods to the boiling water. Then, add the black tea bags or loose leaf tea. Lower the heat and let it simmer for about 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.
Remove the tea bags or strain the loose tea and cardamom pods from the water. Pour the tea into cups.
If desired, add honey or sugar to sweeten and a splash of milk for creaminess. Adjust the amounts to your taste.
